Do you see the button under the header that says ‘Social Profiles’?
Well, among other things that I did on the LLDS site today, activating this type of Social network was one of them.
Even I am not totally sure how they work yet, but I’d be ever grateful if you members would play around with them and let me know what you think!
Personally, I’m excited about this new feature!
Forever in Christ,
Cassie
After much thought, I have decided that I’m going to need some help running LLDS once it gets going.
This moderator (editor is the proper term) will be responsible for watching over the site while I’m gone. She will help me edit Book Introduction and Discussion posts and will help me tally votes in some instances. If the moderator is on the site while I’m not, she will be watching out for disrespectful, inappropriate or spiteful comments which she will not hesitate to delete and notify me of.
I’m not entertaining the thought that our members will be naughty and mean, but I’m going to stand up to my responsibility and make sure that no one is offended by anyone else.
For a moderator, I wanted to chose someone who is online often and can be here when I am not. I wanted it to be someone whom I trusted and who shared my same ideals as to what should be allowed on the site and what shouldn’t be. Our designer qualified perfectly, so I asked Olivia if she would be willing to be the moderator/editor for the LLDS website and she agreed.
Olivia will be serving as my “right hand” in a way, so I am so grateful that she is willing to help me out in this way!
… LLDS’s new blog button! I’d like to give a huge ‘thank you’ to Olivia who designed it and our lovely header!
If you want, you can pick one up below, or on our sidebar, and put in on your blog to show that you are a Literary Lady!

Also, I wanted to share that almost all of the members have voted and, so far, the books that have the most votes and have a chance of being read are:
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle
Jane Eyre
Do Hard Things
And Then There Were None
Little Women
Speaking of which, have you all noticed how close it is to the start of February? It’s almost time for the official start of the Literary Ladies Discussion Society! I hope that all of you who plan on participating this moth have started to locate a copy of the book ‘Emma’ by Jane Austen… I hope that you are all as excited as I am!
For the time being, I have removed the book ‘Uglies’ by Scott Westerfeld from our list of books to read in the coming months.
Read the following and you will see why:
I do want to read Uglies and it sounds like a book that would be very interesting to discuss, so I hated to have to make this decision. If it wins (and it most likely will) I will add it to a list of books that we have pre-chosen to read in the future. (See HERE) I don’t want to introduce such a secular book to the group this quickly after it was started. I want to start as “far away from the line as possible”, if you know what I mean.
From what I’ve heard, ‘Uglies’ is very close to line and even well beyond crossing the line for some of our more conservative members. There is kissing and drinking mentioned and it is written from a very worldly world view.
I feel that once we get better acquainted with all of the members and everyone is comfortable with LLDS and the way that it works and all of the members feel ready to discuss world view issues and sinful behavior in books and how we can disagree with it, then I will pull out ‘Uglies’ for us to read. I think that it could be profitable for us to talk about what we agree with and what we disagree with and how the book could have been improved if the author had let Christ influence his writing.
That will probably be a long time away and even then, I’m sure that some of the members will chose not to read it, but that’s farther along in the club and it’s their decision. Right now, God is holding me accountable for mine.
I want to thank all of you for your understanding. God just did not give me a peace about reading this book at this time and I want to follow His will.
Thank you all.
爱和祝福,- Love and Blessings,

I just made a page for every member who has already written and submitted their self-written bio!
You can view the member profile pages by going to the top of the site and clicking on “About the Members” which then links to each members’ individual page. Our you could just go HERE.
It’s not too late for me to make a page for you if you don’t have one yet! Just email me at cassie@literaryladies.com with a bio about yourself and a profile picture if you want one (this should actually be of you and not a picture of someone else). If you have a blog button, you can include the HTML code for that too!
I hope that you all like and am as excited about this feature as much as I am!
爱和祝福,- Love and Blessings,

…Set you all up as users! How does it feel? =D
Now all of you can comment and you will be able to write, among other things, by February!
Note: There is a place on your profile where you can upload profile pictures. I have one request to make: The pictures can be of you, or of an object or thing, but please don’t use pictures of people from movies, etc. I just don’t want any confusion as to who you are. =D
Thanks!
I sent just sent the following email to all 28 members of the Literary Ladies Discussion Society:

Hello Literary Ladies!
This is Cassie, your friendly blog admin, writing to say that I am ready to set you all up as users on the LLDS blog.
Until February, you will not be able to make posts. Don’t worry. By the end of January I should have given each and every one of you the access that you need to be an actual author on the website.
I would very much appreciate it if you would all email me back at your earliest convenience to let me know if the first name that you listed on your sign-up membership forms (HERE) is alright for your username on this new website.
I’d like to thank each and every one of you for your support and enthusiasm that has encouraged me to continue on with this project.
Please email me if you have any questions and you can expect the same vice versa from me. =D

I’m just posting this in case anyone’s email didn’t work…
爱和祝福,- Love and Blessings,

Now, Girls (or ‘Ladies’ I should say =D):
I have spent many hours musing (hours that I should have spent sleeping…) and I think that I have finally found the most efficient way for us to hold our book discussions.
Read carefully because the following words are vital to how this Book Club blog works. It’s its framework and its very backbone of this website in a way.
About Book Suggestions:
At the end of a month we will have a post for Book Suggestions where all of the members can comment and leave their suggestions for which book they would like to read for the next few months (Yes, we will be picking for multiple months at a time).
Everyone’s suggestions will then be voted on in a poll. Obviously, the book with the most votes is the one that we will read.
About Book Discussions:
The last week of the month, a post will be made by the person who suggested the book with the information and maybe some thought-provoking questions about the book that was just read.
All of the members who want to, may comment and partake in the discussion and share their thoughts.
THIS is an example of what it will sort of be like. (Note: Don’t read too much of the post I linked to. That book is one that I hope to read eventually and I would hate for the plot to be spoiled for you!)
I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this set up for our book discussions, so feel free to test it out by discussing your thoughts in the comments of this post!
爱和祝福,- Love and Blessings,
