Stuff on the site began to slow down around April and May. Because of this, I deleted the Reading posts from those months and will repost them if those books are chosen again.
The books that were removed were I Capture the Castle and Pride and Prejudice. If we vote for these books next year, everyone will have the chance to read and discuss them again.
God Bless!
Hello Literary Ladies!
This post is to announce that this club’s hiatus is officially over and it’s time to read together again!
I was able to earn 30 credits and become a college sophomore over the summer and now, I have some time to devote to this site again.
I hope that you all had a lovely summer. I know that I did.
I will put up the list of books to vote for soon…
Dear Literary Ladies,
Due to my business with my college studies, I’m going to be taking a brief hiatus from the Literary Ladies website.
I hope to open voting for the next books in August and start the club officially again in September.
Have a beautiful summer, everyone!
Love and Blessings,
Cassie

Today is January 6th. Last year, on this date, I made my first post on this website. Prior, however, I had been working on setting the site up and I had been planning everything on my personal blog.

To celebrate LLDS’s one year birthday, I have hosting a giveaway on behalf of the club!
One winner will be chosen at random to receive a gorgeous hardcover penguin classic of her choice! (See below for options.)
I am offering three of the great literary ladies’ classics:
(1) Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

(2) Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

(3) Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll

To enter:
Members: Leave a comment here telling me which of these three books you would chose and which was your favorite of all of the books that we’ve read in the past year. It’s that simple!
For an extra entry, post about it on you blog and you can use this button:
Non-members: This giveaway is only open for members of the club, but, if you would like a chance to win, you can join the site here: http://www.literaryladies.com/wp-login.php
The deadline is the end of the month.
Thanks to Brianna, LLDS’ fabulous designer for creating the buttons and logo for this giveaway!
Dear Members and Literary Ladies,
As you know, the Literary Ladies Discussion Society is undergoing many changes and I will be making it more member-friendly over the next few months.
Since without you, Literary Ladies would be nearly nothing, I am posing these questions to you:
What, if anything, would you change about the Literary Ladies Discussion Society?
Is there anything about the site and club that you don’t like?
Is the layout of the site direct and organized?
Any other comments on how you think the site and the club itself could be improved?
You can leave your feedback by commenting on this post. Please be honest, I would love to hear thoughts from as many of you that have the time to give them to me.
Now, in the title I mentioned changes, so I will get straight to the point. Now is not the time to practice the art of suspense in writing…
With the start of Literary Ladies’ second year approaching rapidly (on January 6th, in fact), I am considering many changes that would make this coming year more successful than the one prior. Read below to find out which ones I’m planning and working on bringing to pass…
(1). No more member profiles. They are just too hard to manage and keep up-to-date. I will keep a list of all of you members up on the site, though, but, instead of linking to your profile on the site, I will link to your blog.. or I will do something along those lines depending on how #3 works out…
(2). More posts. I will be posting more on this site instead of once at the beginning and once at the end of each month, I will try to be more engaging and amusing for all of you… Well, I will at least try. I might even try to come up with projects that can be done for most books. You can post about them on your personal blogs and then link to them in the comment section of the post.
(3). Easier Membership I am going to change membership so that anyone can create an account without having to fill out a membership application and more. When I started the club, I wanted it to be exclusive, but now I’m looking to make it grow as much as I possibly can.
(5). Games, Giveaways, and more Great things! I will hopefully start hosting giveaways *if* the site continues to grow and flourish. (I know that I will do one for the site’s one year anniversary, so be sure to check back for that!) I will try to host games with winners and more surprises for faithful members! You’ll have to stay connected during 2011 so you don’t miss out on some of the exciting things that I am brainstorming!
————————————————————————————
I will be working on the site over my Christmas break to bring about all- or most- of these new changes. Be sure to check back during 2011 for the new and much-improved Literary Ladies Discussion Society!
The logo is courtesy of our new designer, Hannah (Isn’t it lovely?!?!? Personally, I think that she did a fantastic job.)
And I’ve been working with Zazzle to to make this T-shirt.

I was thinking along the lines of making and selling ‘membership packs’ with the T-shirt, stationery, bookmarks, etc. But before I put the time and effort into actually putting them together I was curious if any of you would even be interested in something like that?
It was just an idea that I had and I’d love to hear your truly honest thoughts on whether or not you think it would succeed.
Love and Blessings,

Dear members:
Can you believe that May is already almost over and June is practically upon us? Oh, my.
We had a quiet discussion in April as ‘Charlotte Doyle’ was a lesser known book.
For May, ‘Little Women’ was selected and, for those of you who participated in the reading this month, I look forward to talking about it with you! I had never read it before and… well, I won’t tell you my thoughts just yet. You’ll have to come back here after I post the discussion thread. *smiles*
I was also thinking along the line of a personality quiz. One that profiles you and tells you which of the four sisters you are most like. If enough of you are interested, I’ll scout out a good one and link to it in the discussion post.
Alright, I’ve finished up my little musing/reminder and I hope to hear from all of you, my dear friends soon!
Have a beautiful day and keep on reading!
Forever in Christ,
Cassie
With help from the amazing Amazon.com, the Literary Ladies Discussion Society now has its own store where you can purchase any of the books we’ve read or are planning to read in the future! Anything you buy, you purchase from Amazon through your account there, but you never have to leave the LLDS website! Not only does the store include wonderful editions of our books, but there you can also find movie versions of those books and other fabulous Literary Lady goodies!
You can access the store by clicking on “LLDS Store” from underneath our header, or by clicking HERE to go to the store’s actual site via Amazon.
Keep on reading, girls! We have nine days until the end of February and the end of ‘Emma’.
I’ll be posting the discussion thread soon so we have ample time to converse before we delve into ‘Jane Eyre’. =D
Happy Reading!
Forever in Christ,
Cassie
