Discussing 'Anne of Green Gables'

Goodness. Can it really be the end of October already?

Since I am leaving on a trip to North Carolina on Wednesday, I thought that I would make this post a few days early.

Did any of you get to read Anne of Green Gables?

Had you read the book before?

What’s your favorite quote?

To you, does Anne of Green Gables seem like a summer-, winter-, autumn-, or spring-book?

Why do you like Anne of Green Gables?

Feel free to share your thoughts. That’s what a book club is for.

Love and blessings to you all!

  • I’m so excited we read this one this month as it is an all-time favorite of mine. How can you not love Anne? :)

Did any of you get to read Anne of Green Gables?
Yes! As I said, one of my favorites!

Had you read the book before?
Oh, goodness yes. Two or three times.

    What’s your favorite quote?
The very end…”God is in Heaven and all is right with the world.” Not word for word, but you know what I mean :)

To you, does Anne of Green Gables seem like a summer-, winter-, autumn-, or spring-book?
I think L.M. Montgomery really did a fantastic job of bringing in all the seasons. Spring when she is talking about the White way of Delight, summer during those long, wonderful, carefree days her and Dianna shared just enjoying life, fall when they talk about her school days, and winter when “Matthew Insists on Puff Sleeves” :D But, if I had to pick one, I would say summer because that is when I read it since it’s practically the only reading time I have!

Why do you like Anne of Green Gables?
For one thing, I think she’s someone we can all relate to. Passionate and mischievous while (and at the same time) being so lovable. There’s is a little Anne in all of us – I believe that is why it has been such an enormous success. Apart from that, there’s just a simple, whimsical feel to the whole thing (also brought out very well in the movie, btw). It shows me the simpler life…gorgeous carefree-ness….the beauty of imagination. An escape during those really stressful times. I adore Anne and love L.M. Montgomery for giving her to us.

So literary ladies…what do you think?

  • I read Anne of Green Gables. I have read the book before but always love reading it again.

I don’t think I have a favorite quote. I have favorite parts of the book, particularly when Anne gets Diana drunk. ☺ Dear me, how terrible.

I think that Anne of Green Gables is a all seasons book. I have read it during all four seasons.
